Baird's Auto & Tire Frequently Asked Questions — Q&A
1. Do I Need an Appointment?
Appointments are recommended for larger repairs and diagnostic work, but we welcome walk-ins when our schedule allows. Oil changes and many maintenance services can often be handled the same day.
2. Do You Accept Walk-In Oil Changes?
Yes. We believe routine maintenance should be convenient. Stop in and we will make every reasonable effort to get your oil change completed promptly.
3. What Types of Vehicles Do You Service?
We service most Domestic, Asian, and European vehicles, from routine maintenance to advanced diagnostics and major mechanical repairs.
4. What Services Do You Offer?
Our services include:
Oil changes and maintenance, tires, alignments, brakes, steering and suspension, heating and A/C, batteries, electrical systems, diagnostics, fluid services, engine and transmission repairs, and many other automotive services.
5. What is a DVI?
A Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) is our documented inspection of your vehicle.
Our technicians use photos, measurements, and written findings to help show you what we see.
The goal is simple:
You should understand your vehicle before making a repair decision.
6. Why Do You Inspect My Vehicle if I Only Came in For an Oil Change?
Because we believe you deserve to know the condition of your vehicle.
An inspection does not mean you are required to purchase additional work. It allows us to identify safety concerns, maintenance needs, developing problems, and items that are currently in good condition.
We inspect. We inform. You decide.
7. Will You Do Work Without My Permission?
No. If additional repairs are discovered beyond your original authorization, we will contact you and obtain authorization before performing that additional work.
8. Do I Have to Fix Everything You Find?
No.
Our responsibility is to properly inspect the vehicle and give you the information.
We will help separate recommendations into areas such as:
Original Concern • Safety • Needed Repairs • Maintenance • Future Needs
You decide what work you want performed.
9. Why is My Estimate So Large?
Sometimes a vehicle has several years of accumulated maintenance or repairs that need attention.
A large estimate does not mean everything must necessarily be completed today.
We will explain the findings, show you the DVI, help prioritize the work, and discuss the best plan for your vehicle.
10. Why Should I Choose Baird's Auto & Tire?
Because automotive service should be based on trust, information, quality, and relationships.
We want you to know:
What we found.
Why it matters.
What we recommend.
What it costs.
What can wait.
And what happens next.
We don't want to simply repair your vehicle once.
We want to become the shop you trust to take care of it for years to come.
11. What if I Find the Same Repair Cheaper Somewhere Else?
Let us know.
Before comparing prices, we want to make sure we are comparing the same repair, labor, parts quality, fluids, included services, fees, and warranty coverage.
If our price appears unusually high on a truly comparable repair, we want the opportunity to review it.
12. Do You Offer a Warranty?
Yes. Qualifying repairs may receive warranty protection for up to 5 years / 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
The first portion of qualifying coverage is through Baird’s, with additional away-from-shop protection available under the applicable warranty program.
Not every service, part, or repair qualifies. See your repair order and warranty information for complete terms and limitations.
13. What Should I Do If I Think I Have a Warranty Problem?
Contact Baird’s Auto & Tire first.
We want the opportunity to inspect, diagnose, and correct a qualifying warranty concern.
If you are more than 25 miles away, follow the authorization and claims instructions provided with your separate warranty information before having another facility perform repairs whenever reasonably possible.
14. Do You Use Quality Parts?
Yes. We select parts based on the vehicle, application, availability, quality, and repair requirements.
Depending on the repair, this may include
OE, OEM, or high-quality aftermarket components.
15. Can I Bring My Own Parts?
Customer-supplied parts may be accepted in limited situations and are subject to Baird’s policies, labor rates, and warranty limitations.
Ask an advisor before purchasing or bringing parts.
16. Why Do You Charge For Diagnostics?
Modern diagnosis requires technician time, specialized equipment, information systems, testing, training, and experience.
A trouble code does not necessarily tell us which part has failed.
Professional diagnosis is about determining
why the problem exists, not simply replacing a part because a code appeared.
17. Can You Just Scan My Check-Engine Light?
We can perform an initial scan, but a trouble code is only a starting point.
If testing is required to determine the actual cause of the problem, diagnostic charges may apply. We will explain the recommended diagnostic process before proceeding.
18. Do You Service European Vehicles?
Yes. We service many European vehicles.
Certain European, highline, specialized, diagnostic, and complex repairs may have different labor rates because of the additional equipment, information, procedures, expertise, and time required.
19. Do You Sell And Install Tires?
Yes. We offer tire replacement, balancing, rotations, tire repairs when safely repairable, TPMS service, and wheel alignments.
20. How Do I Know If I Need an Alignment?
Common signs include:
Uneven tire wear, steering wheel off-center, pulling or drifting, steering or suspension repairs, or impacts with potholes and curbs.
We can inspect the vehicle and recommend an alignment when appropriate.
21. Do You Offer Preventative Maintenance?
Yes.
We service fluids and maintenance items based on the vehicle's needs, condition, history, mileage, and manufacturer recommendations.
Our goal is to help you maintain the vehicle before a lack of maintenance turns into a larger repair.
22. Why Do You Review My Vehicle's Service History?
Service history helps us understand what has already been performed, what may be due, what was previously recommended, and whether today's concern relates to an earlier condition.
Whenever available, we may review previous Baird’s repair orders, DVIs, customer-provided records, and available vehicle history information.
23. Will You Tell Me If Something Doesn't Need To Be Replaced?
Absolutely.
A good inspection should document what's good as well as what needs attention.
Our job is not to find something to sell.
Our job is to accurately report the condition of your vehicle.
24. Can You Help Me Prioritize Repairs?
Yes.
If several items are found, your advisor can help organize them based on safety, reliability, maintenance, the original concern, and future needs.
That allows you to make an informed decision and develop a repair plan that works for you.
STILL HAVE A QUESTION?
Ask us.
We would rather explain a recommendation, repair, price, or process than have you leave uncertain about your vehicle.
